Author and social/political satirist Christopher Buckley has compiled quite the life résumé to draw upon—merchant marine, magazine managing editor, best-selling author, and chief speechwriter to Vice President George H. W. Bush—all before he turned 30.

Today, Buckley is the author of 13 books including his most recent, Losing Mum and Pup: A Memoir (2009), which documents the passing of his politically conservative father, William, and his New York socialite mother, Patricia. In addition, he has written for The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time, Vanity Fair, and Vogue.
